Volleyball areas decided Thursday

The high school volleyball regular season has come to a close, and area tournaments will be played Thursday.

The top two teams in each area tournament advance to the regional round of the playoffs.

Below are the area tournament arrangements for each Chilton County area team:

•Chilton County will play Marbury at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Class 5A, Area 5 tournament hosted by Benjamin Russell. The winner of the first match would then play the tournament host.

•Jemison plays West Blocton at 4 p.m. Thursday at Calera. The winner of that match will play the winner of the Calera-Bibb County match at 5:30 p.m. for the area championship.

•Thorsby will play Central-Coosa at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity. The winner of that match will play the winner of the Trinity-B.B. Comer match at 12:30 p.m. for the area championship.

•Isabella will play Prattville Christian Academy at 2 p.m. at Montgomery Academy. The winner will play the host team at 3:30 p.m. for the area championship.

•Billingsley will host the Class 1A, Area 5 tournament and play Ellwood Christian Academy at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Maplesville and Autaugaville will follow and 3 p.m., and the winners of the first two matches will meet at 4:30 p.m. for the area championship.
