Possible fall date for Movies in the Park

A tradition that has developed over recent years in Thorsby is Summer Movies in the Park presented by the town’s fire department.

However, recent circumstances have caused that tradition to take a different approach this year.

The movies were normally held in June, but it has been a hectic month with the department having to transition after Josh Parker was named the new fire chief on June 3.

According to Parker, the department looked into putting something together, but it was just too late in the process to find movies.

Parker understands how passionate the community is for the event and therefore wanted to give it the proper preparation and not just hastily throw something together.

Nothing is set in stone but several ideas are being discussed within the department, including having a Movies in the Park event in October.

Some of the positives by pushing back the event include less humid weather and the time change would mean that the movie would start earlier.

There was even talk about the possibility of having it the night of the Swedish Festival.

Parker knows the situation is not ideal but wanted to let the public know that he and the department are working on a future solution.
