CCHS football plans steak dinner

The Chilton County High School football program is hosting a steak dinner fundraiser on April 6 beginning at 6 p.m at the CCHS cafeteria.

It is a new event for the program, which is striving for creative ways to raise money.

“When I first got here is was something I mentioned,” CCHS Athletic Director Tal Morrison said.

According to Morrison, he had seen similar fundraisers in past stops at schools and saw it successful.

One of Morrison’s new approaches includes changing the format of fundraisers from several smaller events throughout the year to larger events that are more spread out during the calendar year.

“It wears on the kids and community to continue to support several small fundraisers,” Morrison said. “I feel like this is going to help us, but also benefit the community.”

Steak dinner tickets will be available for $100 and will include a pair of 10 to 12 ounce rib eye steaks with all the fixings.

Ticket holders present will receive door prizes, including the chance to win a $1,500 three-day and two-day stay at a condo in Gulf Shores or a trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Other creative athletic fundraisers that CCHS has planned include a pro wrestling event on March 15 and a future rodeo at a later date.
