Senior Connection named July business of the month
Since the coronavirus pandemic has become a focal point of the nation, the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce has kept that in mind when naming its Business of the Month.
As a result, Senior Connection was highlighted as the Chamber’s business of the month for July.
“It wasn’t hard for us to decide that Senior Connection was our next recipient,” Chamber President Billy Singleton said. “We approve of what you’re doing and the contributions you make to this county.”
September will mark Senior Connection’s seventh year of existence.
“We’ve come a long way since then,” Senior Connection Director Vanessa McKinney said. “It means a whole lot for the Chamber to recognize us. It is such an honor.”
According to McKinney, Senior Connection tried to do their part to check up on their members and make sure they were doing good while at home during the shutdown.
During that time, Senior Connection was able to partner with Bertolone’s Italian Café to help deliver meals to those stuck in their home at that time.
“We had people that were having such a rough time at home, so we knew we had to come on back,” McKinney said. “We just wanted to do that the safest way we could. It means a ton for somebody to recognize all the hard work that we’ve put in.”
Although Senior Connection has been around for nearly seven years, it really took off after moving into its current facility at 304 Park Drive in Clanton.
“We went from 100 to 600 members after the move and holding steady.” McKinney said. “It’s their home away from home. Some people come here and just stay all day long.”
