Child Protect to host benefit concert

Child Protect Children’s Advocacy Center will host its second annual benefit concert Aug. 20.

The concert will be held at Clanton First United Methodist Church’s Helen Parrish Activity Center, and will feature acts such as the Whistlestop Combo, Justified and Lindsay Dawson.

Event coordinator Jana Zuelzke said the original concert last year was a success, leading the organization to plan another.

“We had our first last November, and we decided to move the date up,” she said. “We believe there are a lot of people in Central Alabama that are musically talented, they just might not have the opportunities to play.”

Tickets cost $10, and all proceeds from the concert will go to the organization, which assists child victims of physical and sexual abuse.

Zuelzke said she felt there would be a wide variety of musical styles, and hoped for a similar audience.

“I think there will be something everyone will like,” she said.
