Improved Isabella defense on display
Isabella’s football team won its second game of the season and first in region play on Friday, but the number the Mustangs were happiest about may have been 0, which was the number of points allowed by a program that has struggled defensively in recent years.
The Mustangs defeated visiting Randolph County, 25-0.
“We’re gaining confidence every time we go out on the field,” Isabella coach Scott Booth said. “We’ve been working very hard on our defense to get better. We’re still making mistakes, but our guys are excited about it and we continue to improve.”
IHS got first-half scores from Tyler Smith (twice) and Christian Littleton, and DeRodgus Campbell ran in from 21 yards out in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
