Week 10 recap

Thorsby 34 Keith 22

The Rebels would not be denied, despite trailing by two possessions, 22-12 at halftime.

Thorsby made the proper adjustments in the second half and scored 22 points en route to a memorable comeback on the road.

With come-from-behind effort, Thorsby wrapped up region play with a win and improved to a record of 7-1 overall and 5-1 in Region 4-2A, good for second place in the regular season standings.

Maplesville 56 Loachapoka 6

Leading 28-0 after the first quarter, it did not take long for the game to get out of hand.

Of course, that has become the expectation when Maplesville (8-0, 6-0) plays just about everyone on its schedule.

It is lofty expectations, but also a weekly challenge that the Red Devil players seem to embrace.

Players such as, Brent Schoener, who completed six passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns with no picks. He also added a score on the ground.

The rushing attack once again proved to be balanced with four players gaining more than 50 yards.

Chaz Morris caught a touchdown and also intercepted a pass. The Red Devils finished with three receiving touchdowns and a trio of interceptions.

With the win, Maplesville ran through its region for yet another year.

Autaugaville 36 Verbena 30

Verbena was so close to earning its first victory of the season, but came up just short in the final seconds of the game.

The Red Devils trailed by six with the ball on the opponent 5-yard line with one second left on the clock.

However, Verbena was unable to cash in on the golden opportunity and as a result, the win column remains empty heading into the final game of the regular season at home against Berry next week.

B.T. Washington 46 Chilton County 16

A tough season came to an end for the Chilton County Tigers.

The Tigers only managed one win on the season in Tal Morrison’s first year as head coach, but the effort never fully diminished, which is something to build upon heading into next season.

Demopolis 48 Jemison 7

Much like Chilton County, the Panthers were handed a one-sided lose on the road.

However, Demopolis is a proven threat for the state title on a yearly basis and a tough matchup for any team that lines up against them.

Aliceville 56 Billingsley 20

It was a rough end to region play for Billingsley, which was just outmatched in several areas of the game by Aliceville.
