Cake Addiction has embraced breakfast with the introduction of doughuts to its menu last Friday.

The locally-owned business, which is known for their cupcakes and decorative cakes, will now offer the popular breakfast item.

“Cupcakes are great, but sometimes people do not want something that heavy or sweet early in the morning,” owner Shelley Jones said.

According to Jones, the plan is to slowly introduce the product by only offering it on Thursday and Friday mornings to start.

A partnership has been created with Donuts D-Lite in Millbrook, who will be providing fresh doughnuts to Cake Addiction.

“I tried one and right away realized that they are some the best doughnuts that I have ever had,” Jones said.

Jones hopes to eventually reach the point where they are making the donuts in house, but do not have the current equipment required.

For the time being, Jones is proud to serve quality doughnuts that have become well known throughout central Alabama.

Another promotion that will coincide with the menu addition, will be offering the option of a free doughnut or cupcake to police officers in uniform on Thursdays and Fridays.

“We just want to allow our customers with a selection that they can be satisfied with and enjoy,” Jones said. “We how this is another step toward that.”
