ISABELLA – Chilton County’s and Isabella’s volleyball teams both played close matches against Calera on Monday.

It could have been home court advantage, but IHS pulled out a win while CCHS could not.
The hosts also defeated Chilton in the last match of the night, 2-0 (25-15, 25-13).

Amber Wyatt recorded eight kills and two blocks in that match, while Savannah Kissel had four kills, two blocks and seven aces.

Kaylynn Culp posted four aces, Allison Mims had five digs and Jessica Maciel contributed three aces and 10 assists.

The Class 2A No. 10 Mustangs (12-4) defeated Calera, 2-1 (24-26, 25-18, 15-12), despite falling behind 10-3 in the third set.

“They feel pretty good about themselves, coming back like that,” coach Glen Graham said.
Chilton County fell to Calera, 2-1 (26-24, 18-25, 10-15) though the Tigers (2-1) held a 6-3 lead in the third set.

Lauren Stewart recorded nine assists, two aces and two blocks in the match, and Keondra Looney led CCHS hitters with six kills to go along with two aces.

Renee Lewis had seven assists, and Rachel Johnston had five kills.
