Rodeo coming to Chilton County

Local talent: The Chilton County Fall Classic rodeo this weekend will feature local competitors including Nelson Wyatt.

The rodeo is returning to Chilton County.

After an absence of several years, the Professional Cowboy Association will come to Clanton on Oct. 28-29 for the Chilton County Fall Classic hosted by the Chilton County Rodeo Club.

The event will be held at the Chilton County Fairgrounds, with gates opening at 4 p.m. both days and the action starting at 7:30 p.m.

Friday will be “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” night, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the American Cancer Society.

Saturday will feature a “steer dressing” competition, with teams competing to be the quickest to put a pair of ladies’ undergarments on a steer.

The event will also include vendors, a rock climbing wall and other activities for kids.

“We want to get a lot of people out there,” said Allen Wyatt, an event organizer with the county Rodeo Club. “We think it’s going to be a good event.”

3R Rodeo Company of Jemison will be the stock contractor.
