CCHS athletes sign to play college sports

Two seniors at Chilton County High School recently signed to play sports at the collegiate level beginning next fall.

Forrest Knight signed with the University of North Alabama to play golf.

He is ranked the No. 4 senior in the state in junior golf rankings and is the son of Mark and Michelle Knight.

On the line: Chilton County High School’s Forrest Knight (seated, center) signed to play collegiately for the University of North Alabama. He was joined at a signing ceremony by (clockwise from top left) CCHS athletic director Donnie Hand, principal Cynthia Stewart, mother Michelle Knight and father Mark Knight.

Cameron Cummings, 17, confirmed his commitment to play baseball at the University of South Alabama by taking advantage of the early signing period.

Cummings is the first Division I baseball signee in recent history at CCHS.

He received interest from numerous other schools including UAB, Troy, Auburn, Coastal Carolina, Belmont University and many other junior colleges.

Cummings said the biggest motivating factor to sign early was that it allows him to focus and avoid distractions during his senior year of baseball.
