Butterfly Bridge offers quarterly update

The Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center provided 596 services to children in Chilton County during its most recent quarter.

Of those services, 293 were advocacy services, 171 therapy sessions, 68 case reviews, 40 forensic interviews and three MDT (multidisciplinary team) meetings.

Seventy-one percent of children using the services were female. The majority of the clients were white and between 7-12 years old.

Chilton County provided 222 more services than the office in Autauga County and 197 more than Elmore County.

Although the pandemic has changed certain things about life, the need for Butterfly Bridge remains the same, if not even greater.

“At Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center, we recognize that the local, national and global threat as a result of COVID-19 has all our lives in a constant state of change, for many, increasing fear,” BBCAC Director Jana Zuelzke said. “Unfortunately, no matter what the circumstances, child abuse persists. Trauma does not take a break. Our community needs us now more than ever.”

Donations of money or goods are always needed at Butterfly Bridge in order to allow them to continue to provide such resources for those in need of them locally.

Items needed for the center include things such as juice boxes, canned soft drinks, cleaning supplies, new teddy bears, 60-watt light bulbs and trash bags (13 and 4-gallon sizes).

Donations can be dropped off by calling 205-755-4205 and setting up a time.
