First week back fabulous

The first week of school has been fabulous at Jemison Elementary School.
Credit for this goes to the dedicated and hard working teachers who prepared all summer for this week.
Also, credit belongs to the skillful and patient bus drivers, loving and compassionate lunchroom workers, energetic and supportive staff and the wonderful parents we have in the Jemison community.
Plus, we are very fortunate to have sweet and eager-to-learn students at Jemison Elementary School.
We are grateful that the State Legislature and Gov. Riley passed and signed an education budget that saved the jobs of many of our teachers.
Though we understand the economic crisis facing education, we are concerned about providing the materials and supplies needed to support our traditional high standard of instruction.
The PTO at Jemison Elementary School has a tradition of providing funds to supplement our lack of financial resources, and this year’s officers are dedicated to helping the teachers, staff and students have a wonderful, successful year.
Our PTO officers have met several times this summer, preparing to assist the school for the upcoming 2009-10 school year.
The officers have already discussed activities and fundraisers that will supplement the economic needs of the school.
The entire staff is thrilled with the efforts of the PTO. I do hope that all our parents will become members of such a dedicated group.
I am fortunate to be the principal at Jemison Elementary School.I have a great faculty and staff, wonderful parents, a goal-oriented PTO and loving students. Every day I arrive on campus ready to guide, assist and learn from those who will become our future.
It is “A Wonderful Life,” and I am blessed to be counted as a member of the Jemison Elementary School faculty.
