Clyde Chambliss to qualify for Senate District 30

Small businessman Clyde Chambliss Jr. announced that he will qualify for District 30 of the Alabama Senate.

The District 30 seat will include part of Chilton County under the new redistricting plan.

Chambliss, 44, is the principal engineer at Chambliss Engineering, a civil engineering consulting firm.

He has been actively serving in various appointed and elected positions for more than 20 years.

He and his wife, Tara, have three daughters ages 12-16.

In 1996, Chambliss was elected to the first of three terms on the Autauga County Commission.

He served the next two terms as the body’s chairman before deciding not to pursue re-election in 2008.

Chambliss is currently serving on the Prattville City Council.

“I would like to offer my experience and consensus building approach to bring Senate District 30 together to be the premier place to live, work and play in the state of Alabama,” Chambliss said in a press release, when asked why he is running for Senate. “We must work to bring new jobs to this state, we must continue the progress already started of making state government more efficient, and we must be responsive to the needs of our citizenry. I believe that my public service experience as well as my business experience gives me unique qualifications to serve the citizens of District 30.”

Chambliss approaches issues from a regional perspective knowing that when one area is benefitted, other surrounding areas are benefitted as well.

The first of many such projects was the financial participation in the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail located in Elmore County.

Chambliss, then a member of the Autauga County Commission, led the effort to support the city of Prattville in its endeavor to provide infrastructure for the golf facility.

He currently serves as a deacon at Heritage Baptist Church and is on the Smith Center Board.

In addition, he is a member of the Kiwanis Club and Gideons International.

Chambliss has completed Leadership Autauga and Leadership Alabama and has been recognized by the Montgomery Area Chamber as one of the Leading 40 Under 40 in the River Region and as Businessman of the Year by the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce.
