Robert H. Atchison, 71, of Maplesville died Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at

Chilton Medical Center in Clanton.

He was born Sunday, Aug. 13, 1939, in Jefferson County, son of the late Marvin Atchison and the late Lucille Stough Atchison.

He was a postman, and was retired from the U.S. Navy.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Atchison; son, Robert Timothy Atchison; two daughters, Brenda D. Brantley and Donna Hope Tate; six grandchildren, Kristine Atchison, Alexandria Atchison, Stephanie Brantley, Lauren Brantley, Hope Tate and Hunter Tate; great-grandchild, Grayson; six brothers, Donald (Carol) Atchison, M.R. Atchison, Doyle (Carolyn) Atchison, Joel (Hilda) Atchison, Eddie (Cecilia) Atchison and Paul (Catherine) Atchison; three sisters, Shelby Jean (Dewayne) Matchan, Alice (Brooks) Burnett and Dianna Atchison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Lucille Atchison; and sister, Mary Frances Burk.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 13 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randall Mims and the Rev. Clint Harris officiating.

Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Maplesville. Martin Funeral Home directing.
