Planners for the upcoming Peach Jam Jubilee are on the lookout for vendors for the June event that will feature the Mobile-based group The Tip Tops.

Entertainment chair Janice Hull said there is space for 120 vendors, and most spaces are still available.

Hull said the event needs volunteers to collect money, keep the area clean and assist patrons with any information they might need. So far, she said several people have stepped up to lend a hand, though more would be helpful.

Along with The Tip Tops, Hull and Roy Nutter have booked several gospel acts, including Adrian Barrington, as well as the Blast from the Past performers. Local actor Grayson Russell and his father Jerry, a Christian musician, will also perform. The Tip Tops will play on the main stage as other bands stop just before. They specialize in 1960s-era Motown and rhythm and blues.

The planning committee wants to promote the event as an extremely family-friendly atmosphere that folks from out of town could seek out.

“We feel like there are people in other areas like Shelby County and Autauga County who might be looking for something to do on a weekend,” Hull said.

There will be no alcohol sold at the event.

The Peach Jam Jubilee often sees a hearty turnout seeking out that entertainment that appeals to all ages. Hull gives full credit to Chamber of Commerce president Pennie Broussard for starting the event to add another fun dimension to the already popular Peach Fest. She said she’s just tickled to fill the Friday night void with something everyone can enjoy.

Hull cited Broussard and Robertson of the chamber, Crystal Russell of Hull and Russell PC, Judy Martin of Martin Funeral Home, Lee and Renee Helms of Lee Helps LLC and Judy Benson of CRH Automotive Group as key players in moving the planning forward. She said Clanton’s First United Methodist Church has volunteered to operate the event’s playground that evening. Children can get armbands to enjoy those activities.

Broussard told Hull the planning committee is making exceptional progress with the Peach Jam so far, saying they were better organized this year than they’ve been any other year at this point during the planning stages.

“We just hope it’s better and more fun and that it will be well-attended,” Hull said. “And we’re praying for great weather that evening.”
