Dr. Alma S. Freeman of the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts shared a PowerPoint presentation with CIS students about African American artists during a program Feb. 2.

“Paint Your World” was the theme of Clanton Intermediate School’s Black History Program this year on Thursday, Feb. 2.

Dr. Alma S. Freeman, a docent and board member at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, shared a presentation called “I Paint My World”: Works by African American Artists.

CIS students also participated in the program with poetry readings and artistic demonstrations on stage.

CIS has held its annual Black History Program for about 11 years now, said Pamela Smith, fourth grade teacher and program organizer.

“We don’t have art classes on a regular basis, so this will give them a taste of what it’s like,” Smith said. “Everybody has a creative side.”
