Jemison senior football player Eddie Hubbard has announced his intention to play next fall for the University of West Alabama, JHS coach Merritt Bowden said.
Hubbard becomes the second Panther to commit to UWA, joining teammate Javae Swindle.
Bowden said Hubbard was impressed with the UWA coaching staff and their relationship with the players.
“It seemed a lot like a family atmosphere,” Bowden said.
Bowden said Hubbard sent him a text message on Saturday to inform the coach of his decision.
Hubbard this past season caught 42 passes for 738 yards and six touchdowns—and was among leaders in the Chilton County area in each statistical category. He was also named to The Clanton Advertiser’s All-Area Football Team.
Bowden said Hubbard could also be considered for returning punts and kickoffs.
“He has all the tools it takes to be a great player,” Bowden said. “They’re going to be getting a very talented football player.”
