Alice Virginia “Ginger” Adkins, 68, of Clanton died Wednesday, August 20 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster.
She was born on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 1939, in Moorehead, Miss., daughter of the late Thadeus Franklin Hickman and the late Virlie M. Towry.
She retired from the Social Security Administration as a claims representative,an active member of the Mulberry Baptist Church, and volunteer with the Women’s Auxiliary at Chilton Medical Center.
Surviving are her daughters, Donna B. (Terry) McMinn of Maplesville, Brenda G. Brewer of North Little Rock, Ark,; four granddaughters, Stephanie (Jason) Harris of Clanton, Jamie (Michael) Frost of Jemison, Terri Ann Smith of Jemison, Nikki McMinn of Jemison; grandson, Justin McGinty of North Little Rock, Ark.; six great-grandchildren; Makenna J. Frost, Haylee McMinn, Trey Dennis, Trinity Smith, Noah McMinn, Keelon Lawley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thadeus and Virlie Hickman; two brothers, William and Frankie Hickman.
Friends will be received today from 6-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. at Mulberry Baptist Church with the Rev. Mitch Thrower officiating. Interment will follow in Mulberry Baptist Cemetery, Maplesville.
