Robert Michael Dennis left this life on Dec. 1, 2009, at the age of 64. He lived robustly, with joy and cherished every day he was given. He loved his families, his friends and his Lord. He retired from Carter’s as a senior executive in their offshore management program to pursue travel and adding to his sizeable antique collection. He is a resident of Charleston, S.C. Mike will be remembered for his years leading scout troops, coaching soccer, and supporting his son, Robert, in his activities. Perhaps his greatest joy was learning that he was to be a grandfather on his birthday.
Michael was the son of James and Frances Dennis formerly of Clanton. He is survived by Claudia Fields Dennis; Robert Michael Dennis Jr. and his wife, Nicole; his brother, Jimmy, and his wife, Lavoy, and their two daughters, Donna and Robin. Further, he is survived by his wife, Karolyn Elliott Dennis, and her children, Britton, Christian and Taylor Elliott.
He has lived in Charleston, S.C. for many years but loved his church family at our lakeside church, Lake Martin Baptist Church, where he served the Lord in many activities both great and small.
He is a native son of Clanton and went to the University of Alabama where he graduated with honors in the school of engineering. He is a lifelong alumna of the University of Alabama and of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He was looking forward to attending the University’s National Championship game.
His funeral will be held at Martin Funeral Home in Clanton at 3 on Friday, Dec. 4. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Flowers are appreciated but in lieu of flowers, contributions will be accepted at Lake Martin Baptist Church in Dadeville.
