Graveside services for John Walker McKey, 86, will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, Fla.
John was born Nov. 2, 1923, in Thomasville and was raised in Clanton. He went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 10 in Jacksonville, Fla.
John served his country proudly in the United States Navy, retiring after 30 years of decorated service as an E-9 Chief at N.A.S. Jacksonville.
John was predeceased by his loving wife, Theresa Picard McKey; his son, Benard McKey; his mother, Mary Elizabeth Foster; father, Harwell Paul McKey; and seven brothers.
He is survived by two daughters, Robyn Dionne and her husband, David, and Janet Lang and her husband, Curtis; two granddaughters, Wendy and Amber Lang; and many other loving family members and friends.
John was a loving father and grandfather that touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday Jan. 13 from 5-7 p.m. at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home.
Family requests memorials in John McKey’s name be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida or Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Fla.
