Clanton scouts, with help from Ricky Quincy of the city's beautification department, planted trees Sunday between City Park and Goosepond Park.

Local scouts spent part of their Sunday afternoon planting trees between Clanton City Park and Goosepond Park. The poplar trees were planted along a walking trail that connects the two parks.

The scouts, members of Cub Scout Pack 57 and Boy Scout Troop 57, planted the trees with help from their scout leaders, parents and Ricky Quincy of the Clanton Beautification Department.

The poplar trees will later be filled in with other hardwoods and ornamental trees, Quincy said.

Clanton City Councilwoman Mary Mell Smith thanked the scouts for their help with the project.

“We appreciate you taking this on as a project,” Smith said. “This is going to benefit the whole city of Clanton.”

Scouts from Cub Scout Pack 57 and Boy Scout Troop 57 helped with the project.
