Alabama Democratic Party Executive Director Jim Spearman will pay a visit to Clanton on Tuesday.

Spearman is the featured guest speaker of the Chilton County Democratic Club’s meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Kountry Kitchen Restaurant on County Road 28 (Lake Mitchell Road) in Clanton.

The meeting is open to the general public and includes a $10 Dutch dinner.

“[Spearman] will be explaining the nomination process that takes place at the Democratic National Convention,” said Club chairman Bobby Martin.

Spearman also serves as the vice chair of county affairs on the Democratic Party’s Executive Board.

He will provide interesting and valuable information about how delegates nominate presidential candidates at the national convention, and other goings on at the convention.

Martin said all local candidates are expected to attend the meeting.

“It’s open to everyone,” he stressed.

The 2008 Democratic National Convention will be held Aug. 25-28 in Denver.
