Jennifer Lee Laughlin of Hoover and John Darby Oliver of Wilsonville were united in marriage Oct. 1, 2011, at the Library in the Forest of Vestavia Hills at 6:30 p.m.

The bride is the daughter of Carol Kinney Crawford of Clanton, and the granddaughter of Gabriel and Elena Kinney, and Euel and Sarah Laughlin.

She attended the University of Montevallo and UAB.

The groom is the son of John and Cynthia Oliver, and the grandson of the late Clifford R. and M. Inez Tinsley, and the late Anna M. Ferry.

Bridal attendants were Kimberly Laughlin Shoop, Christie Cork, Julie Falkner and Kelly Patrick.

The groom’s attendants were John Oliver and Hugh Stone.

Jennifer’s bouquet was of ivory roses and white hydrangeas. Her gown was a lace-covered sheath designed by Sophia Tollie. Her veil was made by her grandmother, Elena Kinney, in 1969, and was first worn by Jennifer’s aunt, Patricia Nelson.

Jennifer and Darby’s wedding was the first held in the new Vestavia Hills library, said Kay of Café IZ, and hopefully the beginning of increased use of this extraordinary venue. The ceremony was held in the amphitheater set in a gorgeous wooded area.

The rustic rock and stone outdoor space was beautifully enhanced by flower, moss and candle arrangements designed by Continental Florist.

In keeping with the forest theme, the guestbook was a cross-section of a fallen tree taken from a local farm, and guests were given a tree planting kit to remember the day.
