What’s your responsibility to God?

“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same. For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye conscience must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. Owe no man any thing, but to love one another : for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law” (Romans 13:1-8).
Thought for the week: “Faith”
“I know my heavenly Father is ever by my side, as I travel unknown pathways, he’ll always be my guide. Although sometimes the twists of fate, the way ahead obscure, I know that with my Lord to lead, my progress will be sure. When people ‘round me prove untrue or friends my trust betray, I turn for solace to my God, who hears me when I pray. When my earthly sojourn ends, in faith I’ll stretch forth my hand, knowing that God will take me straight to His promised land.”
Announcements
Worship service at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Jemison began with a praise service with theme: “Fear God and keep his commandments for this is the duty of man.” Songs sung were: “Oh I Want To See Him” and “Come Get On Board.” The scripture was read by Earl Locus with prayer by Pastor Dukes and Carl Singleterry.
The morning message was given by Pastor Dukes with his theme: “What’s Your Responsibility To God After You Become a Christian?” Take your service seriously; don’t worry about folks’ opinions.
Service is what you do. Don’t talk down to others who are doing something; there will be hard days for you when you follow Jesus. Continue to follow; he won’t leave you or forsaken you. Your job is to go tell others about Jesus. Only what you do for Christ will last. Stop trying to please folks; please God. Jesus went through something; are you better than him? Every man is judged according to his work for him. You must commit to work for God.
