The Chilton County Republican Party will host a fish fry and “meet and greet” tomorrow night at Helen’s Place in Clanton starting at 6:30.
Both state and county candidates for public office were invited to the event, but as of yesterday no confirmations had been made by state officials.
The cost is $20 per person and everyone is invited to attend.
“It’s a good chance for people to speak to the candidates one on one,” Chilton County Republican Party chairperson Ann Glasscock said. “We only have one other function after this before our November election.”
Weather permitting, the fish fry will be held outside, Glasscock said. The intention is to provide a casual setting so that anyone will feel comfortable to attend.
The event is a fundraiser to help fund the party’s purchase of presidential campaign materials.
Plates will consist of fish, slaw, beans, hushpuppies, cobbler and drinks.
“We urge everyone to come and share in our excitement of Senator John McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate,” Glasscock said.
