A Clanton man and woman were both arrested Wednesday on various drug charges related to a meth lab.

Crystal Kyles, 29, and James Whitman, 27, face charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and chemical endangerment of a child.

Clackley said investigators were led to the home, in the 800th block of 16th Avenue, after citizens complained about the problem.

“Every tip we get we look into it,” said Clackley. “We try to do whatever we can to fix the situation.”

The home’s owner agreed to a search after officers knocked on the front door, Clackley said. The search uncovered several chemicals used to make meth and the drug itself.

As of Friday morning, Kyles and Whitman were in the Chilton County Jail on bonds of $51,500 each.

Narcotics officers with the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the case. The Chilton County Department of Human Resources responded to help with a 12-year-old child in the home.
