Carver-Montgomery on Friday night rolled up 519 total yards, 24 first downs and a 58-20 win at Chilton County High.

The homestanding Tigers (0-3) meanwhile, could muster only 138 yards and nine first downs.

CCHS led briefly in the first quarter. On Carver’s first possession, running back Andrew Pitts fumbled ball while running into a mass of bodies, and The ball found its way into the arms of CCHS’s Cameron Minor, who raced about 70 yards for the score. Pat Norman added the extra point.

But the Wolverines (3-0) took an 8-7 lead before the quarter ended and stretched the lead to 30-7 at the half.

Gheryme Reed bulled in for theTigers from the 1-yard line with 2:23 left in the third quarter, but the Norman point after only cut the lead to 52-14.

The hosts final score came with 6:34 remaining in the game when James Boswell scored from five yards out. Holder Cody Jones tried to convert a 2-point play but came up inches short.

Reed was Chilton’s leading gainer with 61 yards on 11 carries. Boswell chipped in 29 yards on eight carries.

The CCHS passing game, under pressure all night, gained only 13 yards.
