A two-story house with a two-story garage in the Enterprise community of Chilton County was destroyed by fire early Sunday morning.
The state fire marshal’s office was asked to investigate the blaze. The cause of the fire is unknown.
Around 2:30 a.m., Enterprise and Verbena fire departments were dispatched to a home on County Road 372. Because there was no fire hydrant near the scene, emergency workers used a drop tank to help pump water through the fire engines so firefighters could spray water on the house.
All of the occupants made it out of the house before it was destroyed. No one was seriously injured in the blaze.
The house appeared to be a total loss.
The fire appeared to begin in the garage at the side of the house, and it destroyed the vehicles inside of the garage.
Firefighters were able to rescue a pet parakeet from the blaze.
