County site to post results

Results of the presidential election and local elections will be posted for viewing on the county’s Web site, www.chiltoncounty.org, tonight.
Visitors to the site will find a link about halfway down on the homepage that reads, “Click here for election results.” All results will appear on two pages and will be broken down according to office.
“[The results] will be updated throughout the night as we get our boxes in,” site coordinator Matt Taylor said. “We will be doing it in real time as the boxes come in.”
Also, the large courtroom on the third floor of the Chilton County Courthouse will remain open tonight with a projector showing real-time statistics for the benefit of the public. The public may sit on the benches in the courtroom and view the results.
Taylor said this method will save the county money because the traditional printouts are rather expensive.
“It’s going to take a little more work, but I think it will serve the public a little better,” Taylor said.
He added that tomorrow, the results will be posted on paper.
Taylor predicted the first results would probably start coming in about 7:30 tonight.
“With a big election like this, it takes them longer to get them to us,” he said.
