Alex Smith, son of Sharon and Chris Smith, has been enjoying his year at school so far.

His favorite class is physical education, and his favorite subject is history.

“I really enjoy history, and I like getting to lift weights during P.E.,” he said.

This year, Smith is playing football and baseball for Maplesville. He enjoys playing sports, and he likes being athletic.

Smith was chosen to attend People to People by one of his teachers. Through the program, he traveled to Washington for one week where he spent time studying about government.

During his spare time, Smith enjoys riding his dirt bike as well as playing his guitar. He also likes hunting and fishing.

“I enjoy going hunting and fishing along with other stuff. I am looking forward to this season,” he said.

Smith added that he also collects old guns as a sort of hobby.

“I don’t know if it is really a hobby or not, but I do enjoy old guns. I have a few,” he added.

Smith plans to attend the University of Alabama when he graduates. There he hopes to study to become an architectural engineer.
