Maplesville High School will conclude its weeklong homecoming festivities with a football game against Shades Mountain Christian on Friday at 7 p.m. and a school dance Saturday night.
The traditional bonfire will take place tonight at 7:30 p.m., and a pep rally is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. on Friday.
Saturday’s homecoming dance will begin at 8 p.m. at MHS, with lead-out at 11 p.m. Admission is $5 for all students.
The 2011 MHS Homecoming Queen and her court will be announced during halftime of Friday night’s game.
Pam Ousley, MHS family and consumer sciences teacher, said each grade has three representatives, and the homecoming queen will be chosen from the senior representatives.
“The only thing we don’t have is a parade, but everything else is pretty much traditional,” Ousley said.
Each year, students from all grades decorate sheets to hang from the school’s roof, and each grade has a designated hallway to decorate.
Dress-up days for students this year were Western Day, Decade Day, Nerd Day, Cartoon or Celebrity Day and School Spirit and Class Shirt Competition Day.
“We do activities at break, and then we have a fashion show for the people who dress up,” Ousley said.
Students will participate in leadership development activities through class competitions on Friday.
Ousley said elementary classes participate in homecoming activities as well.
