“Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. “Friendship that lasts a lifetime is one that will give and take. It’s built on truth and honesty and offers a firm handshake. A friend will stand beside you when others turn away. I distance separates for a season, in your heart they’ll forever stay. When burdens are heavy to carry, a friend will stretch out a hand. Obstacles that you couldn’t overcome, with a friend’s help you often can. Friendship that lasts a lifetime can keep secrets that were told, for it’s about loyalty and kindness and shines forth as pure as gold. Friendship that lasts a lifetime is built on love and trust and care; it’s a bridge that’s easy to cross over if made for both to share.”

Roy Mac and The Radio Angels of 105.3 WBFZ will present a Pre-Father’s Day Gospel Explosion at the Jemison City Auditorium Saturday, May 29 at 6 p.m. Several gospel groups will perform.

The Rev. S. H. Davis will be honored in Atlanta on Saturday, May 29 at 2 p.m.

Worship service at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Jemison began with praise service of scripture, prayer and songs. Songs included, “When the Saints Go Marching In.”

Pastor Dukes gave the message with the theme, “Don’t Follow Unbelievers.” They don’t believe what God say. Believe on him and his word. How far are you willing to go with God? Are you obedient? Are you on the doorsteps of a promise? The device turns up the heat when God is ready to bless you.

People would rather believe the negative than the positive. Is your outlook small? We can’t do it, but you can do all things through God. God doesn’t fail; if you don’t believe you will wander in the wilderness. The first giant in your life is the giant called self. The giant of sin is unbelief. It’s the giant of being spineless and having no courage to do what God says do. Fear will cause you to say, “I can’t.” You are no match for the devil; he will kill you. God will give victory; whatever you need God has it.

Our sympathy goes out to the families of the Rev. S. Nelson of Selma and Elder Robert Hargrove of Verbena in their time of bereavement. Elder Hargrove will be funeralized Friday, May 28 at 11 a.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church in Clanton. Agee Brothers Funeral Home directing. Rev. Nelson’s funeral is today at the Little Rock Baptist Church in Selma at 1 p.m.
