Pageants never seem to go out of style in Chilton County, but trends in pageant attire continue to change.

Helpful hints are on the way with the first-ever Dress to Impress Runway Show scheduled for Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. at Thorsby High School.

Joyce’s Formal in Hueytown is sponsoring the event, along with Peaches ‘n Boutique, Island House Boutique, Elite Salon, Looking Glass Photography, Melissa Bogardus and Frank Carnaggio.

“There’s a huge presence of pageants in Chilton County,” said Wes Gandy, a pageant judge and image consultant in Jemison. “This (show) is more pageant-focused. Chilton County has never done anything like this.”

Gandy said the show is geared toward all ages. Ms. Senior Chilton County Reba Tucker will walk in the show, as well as former Chilton County YMCA queens.

The models will don evening wear, cocktail attire and swimwear from local vendors.

“It’s nice not to dread what the outcome will be,” Gandy said. “It’s just going to be a fun day for them to dress up and showcase beautiful clothing.”

Gandy said a talent scout from The Look modeling agency will be there, and vendors will have items from their shops for sale.

“I want to have the vendors out and their work showcased,” Gandy said. “You always want to be one step ahead of your competition.”
