Maplesville’s girls team led Autaugaville by five points with less than two minutes to play Monday but could not hold on and had its season ended by Autaugaville in the Class 1A, Area 6 tournament at Akron.
The Eagles topped the Red Devils, 38-36, despite Tanisha Bailey’s 20 points.
Keshia Bailey had eight points and nine steals, and Ebony Childers pulled down 12 rebounds.
Verbena’s girls were also knocked out in the first playoff round. The Red Devils fell to Wadley, 40-29.
Chilton Co. boys 93, Jemison 53
Five Tigers scored in double figures Monday as Chilton County High easily defeated its rival.
Jemison’s Christian Briscoe had 22 points, but that output was more than offset by the performances of CCHS’s Kenyon Floyd (27 points and six steals), Taylor Hughes (14 points), Josh Williams (11 points), Kaland Farrow (10 points) and Vincent Olanrewaju (10 points).
Kendrick Woods assisted on six baskets.
