HOOVER — Alabama Gov. Bob Riley is enacting rules the administration says will improve accountability in state government.
Riley will sign an executive order on Wednesday that he says will increase the transparency of state government. He’ll do it in Hoover during a speech to the Public Affairs Council of Alabama.
The executive order relates to the disclosure of spending by state government.
Riley also is asking legislators to approve what he calls the most sweeping rewrite of Alabama’s state ethics laws since the current code became law in 1973.
Riley has said the ongoing two-year college scandal is a reason why lawmakers should strengthen the law and give subpoena power to the State Ethics Commission.
