Extra benefits are needed

If you’ve recently lost your job, you will likely be getting a little more help. Gov. Bob Riley authorized a $25 a week increase in unemployment benefits, which is being paid for a part of the economic recovery plan of President Barack Obama.
State officials hope this will inject about $75 million into the state’s economy. The good news is this benefit will not result in a higher tax burden on Alabama’s businesses when the stimulus funds are depleted, according to Riley. If this is true, then there’s no reason not to accept this money.
Everyone who is currently on unemployment will benefit. We just hope that those receiving the benefits don’t get used to the extra benefits and will return to the work force as soon as possible.
