Clanton Police provided information about a house fire on Duren Road in the earlier morning hours of Feb. 2 that left two people dead. The structure fire occurred at 1135 Duren Road, Clanton at approximately 6:29 a.m. with the Clanton Police and Clanton Fire Departments responding.

Upon arrival, it was discovered that three people were in the home at the time of the fire, but only one managed to escape the fire. The surviving subject received medical attention and is expected to make a full recovery.

The Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office and CPD are investigating the fire, but it is believed to have been a tragic accident. The names of those killed in the fire were not released, and will not be released until the family is notified properly by investigators.
