One of the best things about high school basketball is that every team has a shot to advance to the postseason, and all 14 Chilton County area high school basketball teams will have that opportunity from Jan. 31-Feb. 5 in their respective area tournaments across the region.

Each of the 14 teams will have to do their work on the road with no tournaments being hosted by Chilton County schools. Each team will have to win at least one game in their respective tournament to keep their season alive. Billingsley, Chilton County, Isabella, Jemison, Maplesville and Verbena each begin their tournaments in the semifinals due to smaller areas. The sub-regional round takes both the winners and runners-up from each area tournament, so just one win for those six schools stand between them and advancing. Both of Thorsby’s teams will need to win two games at their area tournaments at Montgomery Academy and Saint James School to extend their seasons.
