The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade in downtown Clanton that is held every January to honor the legacy of the late civil rights activist was canceled for 2025 due to inclement weather coming in on Jan. 20.

More frigid temperatures and possible winter weather would make the stroll through downtown Clanton difficult for the participants. Parade organizer Robert Binion announced the cancellation of the parade due to the weather on Jan. 13. The parade has been held every year since 1999 except for 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2025 installment of the parade would have been the 25th anniversary of it in Clanton.
