The Rotary Club of Chilton County made its yearly donation to the Chilton County DHR Foster Christmas program on Dec. 11 following the Clanton Christmas parade the week before. The donation will go directly towards providing gifts for foster children in Chilton County to help them have a great Christmas.

“It is really exciting,” Roger Yeargan, treasurer of the Rotary Club of Chilton County, said. “It is a delight to just be able to give towards helping them have somewhat of a normal Christmas as best they can.”

The Rotary Club has sponsored the parade and donated to the DHR program for a number of years. Around four years ago the idea was brought up to charge a small fee for floats and vehicles to enter the parade, and those funds would be used towards the donation to DHR that the Rotary Club matches dollar for dollar. After the addition of the fee, the donation from the Rotary Club to the DHR program went from the hundreds to thousands.

The check was presented to the employees at the Chilton County DHR office by board members of the Rotary Club of Chilton County. The DHR reported that there are still 50 foster children in Chilton County that need sponsoring for Christmas.
