LeCroy Career Technical Center’s Utility Line Program sent their senior students to the Alabama Power Utility Lineworker Career Day in Calera on Nov. 14. The event was held at the ALPCO General Services Complex, and it offered students an in-depth look at careers within Alabama Power with hands-on activities and opportunities to speak with experienced professionals.
Sessions during the event allowed students to interact with professionals in welding, electrical-high bay operators, circuit building, mechanized equipment usage, substation operations and pole climbing. Each session, the professionals had interactive demonstrations and instructions allowing students to gain the understanding of the skills required for these roles.
The event also offered information to students that highlighted opportunities for internships and pre-apprentice lineworker programs in Alabama.
