Jemison High School found itself still seeking its first breakthrough of 2024 after a 46-27 defeat on the road at Demopolis High School on Oct. 18. While the Panthers offense came alive in the second half with multiple scores, the hole they were in was insurmountable and were dropped to 0-8.

“Offensively it went kind of slow scoring all the points in the second half,” Jemison head coach Rishard Davis said. “We just kept playing and never put our heads down throughout the night. Demopolis’ offense was big and fast, and they were picking up four or five yards each play. We just have to get better moving forward.”

The Panthers’ defense did make Demopolis play on third down throughout the game, something Davis was pleased to see.

Jemison (0-8) will now turn their attention to 1-7 Montevallo High School in their next game on Oct. 25 as both schools are looking to snap lengthy losing streaks.

“I want to give respect to Montevallo too, and I can sympathize with their coaches and players because they have been trying to win as badly as we have,” Davis said. “We are going to focus on ourselves and not the magnitude of the game. If we go out, play ball, stay focused and do not let the game get to us we will be fine. We are not going to make it bigger than what it is.”

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
