Chilton Christian Academy came away with the homecoming win and the season sweep over Cahawba Christian Academy with a 53-12 triumph on Oct. 11.
“This win was a huge boost for these guys,” CCA head coach Jay Norcross said. “They are seeing the field a whole lot more (now), and they are growing up and understanding what we are trying to coach and teach them.”
The Patriots wasted no time jumping on Cahawba early. Denson Mahan returned a punt in the opening quarter and Toby Epperson’s touchdown run pushed the advantage to 40-0 after the first quarter. CCA was able to add to its lead later and controlled the game the rest of the way for the win.
“I am totally impressed (with their improvement),” Norcross said. “The beginning of the year was rough for them, but from the oldest one to the youngest one, everyone has gone in the right direction and made great strides. I could not be more pleased with these guys.”
Chilton Christian (4-3) travels to Pineview Christian Academy on Oct. 17 for their season finale with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
