Thorsby High School held an early lead against Thomasville High School on Oct. 4, but ultimately fell to the unbeaten visitors 50-18.

The Rebels’ Grayson McManus found Christian Davenport for a touchdown connection early in the first quarter, followed by McManus’ two-point conversion run to take a 8-0 lead. After a Thomasville score, McManus got back in the end zone with a six-yard rush to extend the Thorsby lead to two possessions at 18-7. Following that score, Thomasville ripped off 43 unanswered points to slide by the Rebels and onto 6-0.

McManus led the Rebels in rushing with 130 yards on 20 carries and the one touchdown. Malachi Allgood led all Thorsby tacklers with 14 stops and added a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Kaden Collins and Tyler Lockhart each followed with seven tackles. Collins and Braylon Carroll each forced a fumble as well, and McManus recovered one of them.

Thorsby (2-4) still sits at .500 in Class 3A Region 3 play at 2-2, and has its next two games against teams right in front of them in the standings, starting with a trip to Dallas County High School on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m.
