Chilton Christian Academy put all the pieces together on Sept. 26 and took down Cahawba Christian Academy 46-12 to earn its first win of the season. The Patriots’ win was the first regulation win of the season after picking up a forfeit victory earlier in the season.

“Now that the guys have played in some games, they are seeing and understanding the plays that we are practicing for,” Chilton Christian head coach Jay Norcross said. “Still a young team, but they are picking it up fast and moving in the right direction.”

CCA was led by its senior quarterback Denson Mahan who was 4-for-6 passing for 136 yards and three touchdowns. He also contributed three touchdowns on the ground for a grand total of six scores in the game, and each carry he had went for a touchdown.

Joshua Langston was another impact player for the Patriots pulling in two of Mahan’s touchdown passes and adding a rushing score. Langston caught four passes for 97 yards, and Toby Epperson caught the other touchdown pass.

The CCA defense was also impactful as Eli Hand led all tacklers with nine stops, followed by Langston with seven. Hand also had a sack and a fumble recovery, Epperson added a sack and Langston recovered two fumbles.

Chilton Christian (2-3) will be back on the field on Oct. 4 hosting Marshall Christian Academy at 5 p.m. after the teams’ first matchup this season was forfeited in September.
