After a two-week hiatus from the football field, Chilton Christian Academy was back in action on Sept. 13 hosting Pineview Christian Academy and lost 56-6. The small break did not play into the favor of the Patriots, and head coach Jay Norcross agreed.

“Having that long time off was not good for us and we came out sluggish,” Norcross said. “I know it was our second game of the year, but it felt like the first having them away from the football field for a while.”

CCA was able to move the ball on offense and got to the red zone four separate times in the game, but each drive stalled out before points were put on the board. The Patriots broke through on Josh Langston’s 47-yard touchdown run that got them on the board. Langston posted 50 rushing and 50 receiving yards in the game to shine for CCA.

The narrative about CCA will be the same thing throughout the year of being a really young team and using this season to build up. The coaches and players both understand that, and they are still having fun with the process.

“That is one thing we have always said is you have to have fun while doing this,” Norcross said. “If you are not having fun, you are not going to give it all you have. That is a positive for our team and a very good thing that the guys are still having fun doing it, no matter what is going on.”

Chilton Christian (1-2) will have the opportunity to get into a rhythm with games each Friday until the end of the season. The Patriots travel to First Assembly Christian School on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. for their next game.
