Chilton County Commissioner Joe Headley was presented with the Tenure in Office Award by the Association of County Commissions of Alabama (ACCA) in August. Headley was recognized for the award at the 96th annual Association of County Commissions of Alabama Convention in Orange Beach on Aug. 22. Headley was presented the award for his 20 years of service on the Chilton County Commission.

“Commissioner Headley is worthy of the gratitude of all Alabamians for his dedication to public service and his personal sacrifice,” Sonny Brasfield, ACCA Executive Director, said. “Amid the extraordinary challenges county commission members face every day, Commissioner Headley has continuously served his constituents with honor and pride, and he deserves a pat on the back from everyone in Chilton County.”

ACCA presents Tenure in Office Awards each year to recognize commission members who have served for at least 16 years. The award is given in four-year increments after reaching their first 16 years of service.

The ACCA is a statewide organization that represents all 67 counties in Alabama and the commissioners in them. It promotes “improved county government services in Alabama, offers educational programs for county officials and their staff members, administers insurance programs for county governments and employees, offers legal advice and represents the interests of county government before state and federal organizations and agencies,” according to a press release from the organization.
