The Chilton Baptist Association is sponsoring two support groups in the coming months to help residents deal with life-altering events. The CBA is sponsoring groups held by GriefShare and DivorceCare to “provide answers to questions and practical tools that help accompany these life changing events,” a press release said.

The two separate groups are both 13-week courses that have one session per week and meet for two hours. During the sessions, participants and the leadership teams will focus on a video seminar, small group discussion and participant guide during each session that will help develop ways to cope.

“When people are committed to all three parts, they experience the deepest levels of peace and healing possible through the program,” the press release said. “Our leadership team is composed of individuals with experience in the fields of education, administration and counseling and have personally experienced loss through death and/or divorce.”

DivorceCare will meet every Tuesday starting on Sept. 3 and running until Dec. 3, and it is designed for individuals who are separated from their spouse or significant other, those legally divorced or those who have experienced the loss of a long-term and meaningful relationship no matter how recent or how long ago it happened. Topics in the course will include emotional healing, overcoming relationship struggles and handling practical challenges. Online groups are available as well.

DivorceCare sessions will start at 10 a.m. to noon. Those interested can register for the class at divorcecare.org or by calling 205-755-3188.

GriefShare will meet every Wednesday starting on Aug. 28 till Dec. 3, joining the previous four courses of the class that the CBA has held since August 2023 with 38 individuals experiencing healing from a loss and learning how to move forward and find joy in their lives. The course is designed for anyone who has experienced loss from the death of a loved one, and it does not matter when the loss occurred.

Those interested in participating in the course can register at griefshare.org or by calling 205-755-3188. The sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to noon as well.

Both courses will be held at the Chilton Baptist Association at 1108 4th Ave. N, Clanton, and there will be signs to show participants where to enter.
