Willodean Gore Payton, age 83 of Clanton, passed away on July 8, 2011, at her residence.

She was born in Chilton County on Nov. 23, 1927, the daughter of the late Floyd Gore and the late Leta Mae Lowery.

Mrs. Payton was a devoted homemaker.

She is survived by: husband, R.J. Payton of Clanton; son, Jeff (Brenda) Payton of Jemison; son, Bobby (Mervin) Payton of Tulsa, Okla.; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Kate Ray of Huntsville.

She is preceded in death by: parents, Floyd and Leta Mae Gore; and brothers, Johnny and James Gore.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 9 from 5-8 p.m. at Clanton Church of God.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 10 at 2 p.m. from Clanton Church of God with the Rev. Chester Connell, the Rev. Stoney Barbee and the Rev. Billy Boatwright officiating.

Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Methodist Cemetery in Clanton.
